• 2) Used small to medium sized tires
• (1) 3” diameter 8’ landscape pole
• (1) 24” long piece of 2x4 lumber
• (2) Cable clamps
• (2) 1” Exterior Screws
• (6) 3” Exterior Screws
• (1) Existing 4x4 fence post at least 6’ tall with a clean level top. This is for cantilevering your 2x4 out away from the post so they’re easier to position.

Tools:

• Screw Gun
• 3/32 Drill bit
• 3” hollow circular Bit
• Safety Goggles
• Gloves

In this configuration I used a 4x4 fence post to cantilever a piece of 2x4 and then cut my landscape pole to fit snuggly underneath. This is just one way of securing the landscape pole.

1. Begin by drilling a 3” centered hole in the top and bottom of each tire. Use a measuring tape or straight edge to make sure your holes are exactly opposite each other. I can’t stress enough how important it is to protect your eyes and hands while working with the tires. Stray bits of steel belting and the heat of the drill bit can cause damage to eyes and hands if not careful.
2. Fit the tires over the landscape pole. They should be snug allowing you to orient them however you want for vertical spacing.
3. Insert a cable clamp through the top of the tire so that the screw hole rests above the tire.
4. Pre-drill a hole to receive a 1” screw then use an exterior screw to fasten tires to height.
5. Take your 2x4 and cantilever it from a 4x4 fence post (if you have one) I pre-drilled three holes in a triangle and put in 3” exterior screws to secure.
6. Cut to fit your Landscape pole underneath your cantilevered 2x4.Your landscape pole should pressure fit underneath the 2x4 so as to lesson any rocking or swaying when hit.
7. Mark a spot about 2” from the edge and pre-drill a hole in the top of the 2x4 straight through into the landscape pole. Insert 3” exterior screw to secure.
8. Done!
